Man on Drugs Attacks Mother in Thailand; Responding Officer Injured

In Nonthaburi province, central Thailand, on September 12, a 29-year-old man, under the influence of drugs, attacked his mother with a bladed weapon. A deputy inspector who responded to the report attempted to apprehend the man, but the man slashed the officer's arm, causing a serious injury and a broken bone. As the man continued to brandish the weapon and advance on the officer, the officer fired his weapon, hitting the man in the leg. The man was injured and taken into custody at the scene.
