Indonesia's Downstreaming Strategy Garners Global Recognition: Minister

Indonesia's Minister of Investment and Mining has revealed that the country's downstreaming strategy is receiving high recognition from the international community. This strategy aims to achieve economic growth by moving away from an economic structure dependent on exporting natural resources as primary commodities, and instead processing them into higher value-added products. In particular, achievements in the nickel processing sector are drawing international attention. Indonesia boasts one of the world's largest nickel reserves, but much of it was previously exported unprocessed. Under the downstreaming strategy, however, the country has actively attracted investment in industries that process nickel into battery materials and other products, dramatically increasing domestic production capacity.
