PM Hun Manet Attends AI Summit in China, Meets President Xi Jinping

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet visited China from July 15-17, 2026, to attend the World Artificial Intelligence Summit 2026 and a high-level meeting on global AI governance. The visit was made at the invitation of the Chinese government. During his visit, Prime Minister Hun Manet met with Chinese President Xi Jinping, where both leaders affirmed their commitment to further strengthening the deep cooperative ties and friendship between their nations. He also held working discussions with Chinese Premier Li Qiang, exchanging views on the further development of bilateral relations. The Chinese leadership extended a warm welcome to the Prime Minister and the Cambodian delegation as "iron friends." Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed his profound gratitude to the Chinese leadership and government for their high attention to the health of His Majesty the King of Cambodia and Her Majesty the Queen Mother, as well as the warm and close reception extended to former Prime Minister Hun Sen during his official friendly visit in June, and to Prime Minister Hun Manet and the Cambodian delegation. Jean François Tan, Minister Delegate attached to the Prime Minister, stated at a press conference on July 17 regarding the outcomes of the working visit that this trip underscores the shared commitment between Cambodia and China to deepen their long-standing friendship and promote mutually beneficial cooperation. This visit served to reaffirm the "iron friend" relationship between Cambodia and China and explore potential cooperation, particularly in the field of AI technology.
