Nghe An Province in central Vietnam is planning a series of joint activities to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Thailand (August 6, 1976 - August 6, 2026). The commemorative event, jointly organized by Nghe An Province and the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association, is planned at the provincial level and is expected to take place on August 10. Within the framework of the celebration program, an exhibition of photos and documents will be held to introduce the 50-year journey of establishing and developing Vietnam-Thailand diplomatic relations. It will also highlight notable cooperation achievements between Vietnam and Thailand, particularly focusing on the cooperation between Nghe An and its localities and partners in Thailand. The exhibition will also showcase the image of the country, people, cultural identity, and investment, trade, and tourism potential of Nghe An. Representative investment projects by Thai businesses in the province will also be introduced. Vietnam and Thailand established a Strategic Partnership in 2013 and are set to officially upgrade their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2025. With the declaration of this Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, both countries commit to further consolidating and strengthening cooperation in all fields, based on the principles of respecting international law, independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, common interests, and each other's political systems. The trade and investment relations between the two countries have developed strongly. Bilateral trade turnover is expected to reach approximately USD 22.1 billion in 2025. Thailand continues to be a major investor in Vietnam, with hundreds of valid projects and a total registered capital of about USD 14.9-15.4 billion.
