Thai Nationals Arrested in Cambodia with Large Quantity of Electronic Cigarette Drugs
Three Thai nationals were arrested in Poipet City, Banteay Meanchey Province, Cambodia, for possessing a large quantity of electronic cigarette-type drugs. Authorities seized 16 bags of these substances and are continuing their investigation.
Authorities in Poipet City, a border town in Banteay Meanchey Province, Cambodia, have arrested three Thai nationals and seized a large quantity of electronic cigarette-type drugs. The operation took place on July 20, 2026. The arrested individuals have been identified as Jiriwet Thongmun, 26; Jiraksak Sararat, 31; and Karan Kinbokaeo, 47, all male Thai nationals. They were reportedly residing in a rented room within Duong Chann Borey in Ou Chrov commune, Poipet City. According to Colonel Thin Sindeath, Deputy Commissioner of the Banteay Meanchey Provincial Police in charge of anti-drug affairs, the suspects were apprehended on a public road. The seized items include 16 bags of electronic cigarette drugs and other related evidence. The arrested suspects, along with the confiscated evidence, have been transferred to the Banteay Meanchey Provincial Police headquarters to initiate legal proceedings in accordance with Cambodian law. Poipet City, situated on the border with Thailand, is known for its high volume of cross-border traffic, making it a potential hub for drug trafficking.
