Vietnam's Education Enters New Era with AI and International Collaboration: Lý Thái Tổ Education System's Initiative

The Lý Thái Tổ Education System in Vietnam has launched the 2026-2027 academic year with a new educational direction focused on technology application, foreign language development, and enhanced international integration. The opening ceremony on September 5th aimed to provide an open, inspiring, and collaborative learning environment for students across its kindergarten, primary, middle, and high schools. At each educational level, opening day activities were tailored to help students acclimate to their learning environments. For younger students, it was about welcoming them to school, while for middle and high schoolers, it offered a platform to express their perspectives on technology, culture, and global integration. The overarching message for the academic year is "Humanistic Intelligence - Leaping Towards Integration." The system's educational strategy for the year centers on three pillars: applying AI and technology in teaching and learning, developing global communication and foreign language proficiency, and expanding international educational programs and collaborations. Artificial intelligence is specifically identified as a tool to support educational innovation, while emphasizing that empathy and good character remain the bedrock for students to confidently engage with the world. Mr. Đào Ngọc Thanh, Chairman of the Board of Members of the Lý Thái Tổ Education System, announced a strategic partnership with Oxford University Press and the British Council, marking a significant step in the system's international standardization roadmap. "We identify technology and foreign languages as two core keys that will gradually elevate students' capabilities, enabling them to proactively integrate globally," he stated. In line with this, the system will continue to vigorously implement the Oxford International Curriculum (OIC) in the 2026-2027 academic year, aiming to simultaneously develop students' knowledge, skills, and learning competencies. Participation in the OIC network provides a solid foundation for accessing international curricula, learning materials, and educational methodologies. The system is also enhancing students' foreign language proficiency through strategic collaborations with the British Council and ILA. With internationally certified educators and native-speaking experts, the focus is on developing skills in debate, academic thinking, and flexible international communication. This initiative is part of a phased plan to establish English as a second language within the schools and to broaden opportunities for students to learn a second foreign language and engage in international exchange activities. Furthermore, digital transformation and AI application are highlighted as another key focus for the 2026-2027 academic year. The system aims to guide students in using AI not as a substitute for thinking, but as a tool to support knowledge exploration, problem-solving, creativity, and enhanced learning efficiency. Concurrently, emphasis is placed on digital culture, critical thinking, and responsible and safe practices in the digital environment. The system is also leveraging technology in its management and teaching operations, striving to increase interactivity, monitor student progress, and progressively personalize the educational experience. Representatives from the Lý Thái Tổ Education System emphasized that the ultimate goal of education is the holistic development of learners. The system aims to foster five core values: Autonomy, Respect, Creativity, Humanism, and Integration. "We are not just focused on accessing new tools or programs, but on equipping students with the ability to adapt to change, connect with the world, and build a foundation of humanistic values to mature in the digital age," a representative added.
