Cambodia and Thailand to Hold UNCLOS Conciliation Meeting in Singapore; National TV to Broadcast Live

Cambodian National Television (TVK) will broadcast live the inaugural meeting between Cambodia and Thailand of the Conciliation Commission established under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), from Singapore. The meeting is scheduled to take place from September 14 to 16. According to an announcement by the Ministry of Information of the Kingdom of Cambodia, this conciliation commission meeting will be held in Singapore, marking a significant step towards resolving maritime issues between the two nations. The opening speeches by both parties are scheduled for Tuesday, September 15, at 8:00 AM Cambodian time (9:00 AM Singapore time). These speeches will be publicly broadcast in Khmer, English, and Thai, with live coverage by the national television. His Excellency Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, will deliver the opening address on behalf of Cambodia. TVK will commence its live broadcast from Singapore at 7:30 AM Cambodian time (8:30 AM Singapore time), and other television stations and media systems are expected to relay the broadcast from TVK. This meeting is viewed as a crucial opportunity to address long-standing issues concerning maritime boundaries and resources between the two countries. UNCLOS is a comprehensive treaty that aims to establish a legal order for the seas and oceans, with conciliation commissions playing a role in assisting parties in dispute resolution.
