Cambodia Red Cross Reviews First Half Activities in Kampong Speu Province

The Kampong Speu Provincial Branch of the Cambodian Red Cross held a meeting on July 27th at the Yum Sokhom Conference Hall in the provincial administrative building to review its first-half work results for 2026 and set future directions. The meeting was attended by 33 participants, including 12 women, comprising members of the provincial branch committee, operational teams, and heads/deputy heads of sub-branches in the nine districts and municipalities. During the event, Dr. Chea Chanthy Sophen, Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Branch Committee, commended the team's past efforts and provided guidance and set key work directions for the sub-branches in districts and municipalities. These include: Continuing to focus on addressing and rescuing citizens affected by various disasters, and providing timely support to the poor and former soldiers in the locality. Cooperating to disseminate information and educate citizens to be highly vigilant about climate change and natural disasters. Operational teams of sub-branches must collaborate with competent forces to disseminate road traffic laws to students and factory workers, aiming to increase caution and reduce traffic accidents. Jointly disseminating and encouraging pregnant mothers to receive vaccinations according to schedule and to receive proper health care. Participating in organizing and training basic first aid courses in schools to provide students with fundamental knowledge for emergency assistance. Dr. Chea Chanthy Sophen further stated that all operational teams of the sub-branches must act quickly, reach the ground, and go directly to the homes of affected citizens without discriminating based on race, skin color, or any political tendency, emphasizing that the suffering of the people is the suffering of the Cambodian Red Cross. In addition, the Chairman stressed the importance of a sense of responsibility and close cooperation between local authorities, operational teams, and competent forces to ensure that all humanitarian activities and educational disseminations are conducted broadly, with high confidence and effectiveness in serving the people throughout Kampong Speu province.
