Mekong River Bridge in Kratie Enhances Cambodia's Internal Transport Network

The Cambodia-China Friendship Bridge over the Mekong River in Kratie is playing a crucial role in enhancing the connectivity of Cambodia's internal transport system. It is particularly contributing to the revitalization of logistics in the agriculture, agro-industry, and tourism sectors in the northeastern provinces. The bridge facilitates smoother daily commutes for citizens, student travel to schools, and access to hospitals during emergencies or late hours, saving time and costs associated with ferry crossings and significantly improving safety. The Kratie Mekong River Bridge and its connecting road construction project officially commenced on January 2, 2023. Citizens have been able to use the bridge permanently since April 1, 2026. The project comprises a bridge spanning 1,761 meters in length and 13.5 meters in width, along with a total of 31.69 kilometers of connecting roads. These include a main road and four branch roads to link the Chitr Borei district on the east bank with the Prek Prasap district on the west bank of the Mekong River.
