President Prabowo Meets TNI Leaders to Discuss Infrastructure Development and Independence Day Preparations

The meeting focused on the progress of national infrastructure development projects and preparations for the 81st Independence Day on August 17th. The President specifically directed the TNI to present something special for the public during the Independence Day celebrations.
President Prabowo Subianto convened with the Minister of Defense, the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) General Agus Subiyanto, the Deputy Commander of the TNI General Tandyo Budi Revita, and the three Army, Navy, and Air Force Chiefs of Staff at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (August 6, 2026). According to Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya, the Commander of the TNI and the Chiefs of Staff reported on the progress of various strategic programs undertaken by the TNI to support equitable development and improve community welfare. "The Commander of the TNI, along with the Chiefs of Staff, reported on the progress of various strategic programs run by the TNI, including the achievements of programs that directly support equitable development and the improvement of community welfare," Teddy stated in his statement on the Instagram account @sekretariat.kabinet on Thursday (August 6, 2026). Among the programs reported to President Prabowo were the progress of constructing 2,500 village bridges, which are targeted for completion in August 2026. Additionally, the TNI reported on the development of nearly 3,000 clean water sources in various regions of Indonesia, as well as the ongoing implementation of the rural electrification program, particularly in the outermost areas throughout this year. During the meeting, President Prabowo also discussed the TNI's support for the government's priority programs, including preparations for the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia. "President Prabowo specifically directed that for the commemoration of the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, the TNI should present something special for the public as a manifestation of the spirit of independence and devotion to the nation," said Teddy. In addition to basic infrastructure development, the TNI will also hold TNI Social Service (Bhakti Sosial TNI) simultaneously across Indonesia to celebrate the 81st Independence Day. Teddy mentioned that these various programs demonstrate the TNI's role not only in safeguarding national sovereignty but also in supporting the acceleration of national development. "Through these various programs, the TNI continues to strengthen its role, not only as the front line in safeguarding state sovereignty but also as a strategic partner of the government in accelerating equitable development, expanding public access to basic needs, and strengthening the unity of the TNI with the people," Teddy concluded.
