On July 6, at the Siem Reap Provincial Police Headquarters, in line with the recommendations of National Police Chief General Sar Thet, Colonel Hout Sothy, the Provincial Police Commissioner, inspected the process of providing Cambodian national identification cards to migrant citizens (both male and female) who are applying for or renewing their ID cards at the Siem Reap Provincial Police Headquarters. During the occasion, Colonel Hout Sothy, the Provincial Police Commissioner, personally oversaw the process of completing applications, verifying documents, and providing services to citizens. He instructed the specialized forces to carry out their work with high responsibility, adhering to legal procedures and professional principles, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and efficiency, in accordance with the government's policies and the directives of the Ministry of Interior leadership, to facilitate citizens. It should be noted that from July 1, 2026, the General Department of Identification of the Ministry of Interior has implemented a mechanism to provide Cambodian national identification cards at the provincial police headquarters for Cambodian citizens who have migrated and are working, practicing a profession, or continuing their studies outside their permanent place of residence. This means that migrant citizens, both male and female, can apply for a Cambodian national identification card or renew its validity at any provincial police headquarters without needing to return to their original place of residence.
