Vietnam and Italy Boost Educational and Cultural Cooperation

Vietnam and Italy have agreed to strengthen cooperation in education, language, and culture to further deepen their strategic partnership. This collaboration is expected to serve as a strong bridge fostering mutual understanding between the peoples of both nations. Recently, a delegation from the Vietnamese Embassy in Italy, led by Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Anh, visited and held working sessions in Naples, Italy. The meetings took place at the University of Naples 'L'Orientale', one of Europe's oldest institutions for Oriental studies, established in 1732. The university specializes in languages, culture, history, regional studies, and international relations, with a particular focus on Asia, Africa, and the Mediterranean region. During the discussions, Ambassador Nguyen and the leadership of the University of Naples 'L'Orientale' exchanged views on future cooperation directions. Key priorities include enhancing Vietnamese language teaching in Italy and developing Italian language programs in Vietnam. They also discussed promoting research and exchanges on international relations, and expanding connections between faculty and students, as well as educational institutions of both countries. Both sides also agreed to explore the establishment of a 'Vietnam Corner' at the University of Naples 'L'Orientale'. This space will be dedicated to introducing Vietnam's country, people, history, and culture, and will support teaching, learning, and research activities related to Vietnam, aiming to bring Vietnam closer to Italian students and the academic community. On this occasion, the Vietnamese Embassy in Italy presented the Vietnamese language department of the University of Naples 'L'Orientale' with several books, including "Complete History of Dai Viet," "Vietnamese Travelogue," and "General History of Vietnam" from Vietnamese publishers. These materials will serve as valuable learning resources, helping students improve their Vietnamese language proficiency and gain a deeper understanding of Vietnam's history, culture, and life.
