Vietnam Accelerates Digital Transformation for Party Agencies and International Cooperation

Vietnam is pushing for practical digital transformation within its Party agencies, a move stemming from the Politburo's Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, which calls for breakthroughs in science, technology, and innovation. Localities are focusing on solutions that address specific needs and deliver tangible benefits. The national digital identification application, VNeID, is slated for integration with the electronic identification systems of Singapore and Laos, with plans to extend this connectivity to other ASEAN countries. This initiative aims to enhance administrative efficiency and international convenience through digitalization. Addressing the challenges of misinformation and harmful content online, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has introduced a Code of Conduct for Cultural Behaviour in the Digital Environment. This aims to guide organizations and individuals in their online activities, fostering a sense of responsibility and promoting positive values. General Secretary and President To Lam, in his addresses at the UN General Assembly and during bilateral meetings, reiterated Vietnam's commitment to peace, cooperation, and development. He emphasized the nation's role as an active member and trustworthy partner, dedicated to strengthening the UN and upholding international law for a more peaceful, equitable, and inclusive world. Economically, meetings with global financial institutions like JPMorganChase and Visa underscore Vietnam's desire to deepen its Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the US. The draft Law on Data Security is also being developed to manage risks associated with the digital economy, AI, and cross-border data flows. Furthermore, Vietnam has proposed establishing specialized task forces to combat transnational scam rings, reflecting a proactive approach to emerging digital security challenges.
