Vietnam Weather Shifts: North Sunny, Heavy Rains Expected in Central Regions

The Vietnam National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has issued its weather forecast for September 25. Northern regions are expected to experience sunny days with only scattered showers and thunderstorms at night. However, the central regions, specifically from Nghe An to Quang Tri province, are anticipating moderate to heavy rainfall, with localized areas experiencing very heavy downpours and thunderstorms. In recent days, Vietnam has seen a succession of varied weather patterns across different parts of the country. On September 22, the North experienced heatwaves, while the Central, Central Highlands, and Southern regions were hit by very heavy rainfall. September 21 saw sunny spells in the North, contrasted with showers and thunderstorms in the South. On September 20, while the North enjoyed dry weather, many areas in the Central and Southern regions received heavy to very heavy rain. Furthermore, on September 12, the North remained dry, but the Central region was subjected to significant rainfall. On September 9, the North had intermittent sunshine, and the South experienced showers. These weather fluctuations can impact agriculture and infrastructure. Vietnam's tropical monsoon climate typically features distinct wet and dry seasons, but recent years have seen an increase in extreme weather events attributed to climate change. Heavy rainfall, in particular, poses a risk of floods and landslides, which can have severe consequences for public life and economic activities.
