Thailand Awaits Georgian Investigation into Blogger's Death

Thailand's Foreign Ministry is awaiting the results of Georgia's investigation into the death of Thai travel vlogger Bowornthat "Hlun Solo" Pengsuk, 27, whose body was found in a hotel room in Tbilisi. Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow urged against speculation, stating that no conclusions can be drawn until the investigation is complete. Officials from the Thai embassy in Ankara, Turkey, which also covers Georgia, have been dispatched to Tbilisi to monitor the case and liaen with Georgian authorities. Bowornthat, known online as "Hlun Solo," had over 3 million followers and was popular for his solo budget travel content. He was last in contact with his family on July 13, and his death was confirmed by Georgian police on Wednesday. Unconfirmed reports suggest his body may have been discovered nearly two weeks prior to the official confirmation. Georgian media outlets reported that an investigation has been launched under Article 115 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to "incitement to suicide." However, it was clarified that such investigations are routinely opened when a person dies under unclear circumstances. In Kalasin province, Bowornthat's grandmother, Som Pengsuk, expressed deep grief and rejected any speculation of suicide. She described her grandson as a "good person, hardworking, diligent, and grateful, with a cheerful personality." She recalled his promise to buy her a karaoke set by the end of the year, a plan now tragically unfulfilled.
