Vietnam Faces Heatwave on Independence Day as Typhoon Shifts Course

Vietnam is experiencing a significant heatwave across the country on September 2nd, Independence Day. Northern and central regions (from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh) are particularly affected, with maximum temperatures reaching 35-37 degrees Celsius, and in some areas exceeding 37 degrees, accompanied by low humidity levels of 45-50%. Central Vietnam (from Da Nang to Binh Thuan) also saw sunny days with some areas experiencing intense heat. Southern and Central Highland regions are forecast to have cloudy skies with a tendency for rain, though heavy downpours are possible in the late afternoon. Meanwhile, Typhoon No. 5 is moving northeast at approximately 15 km/h. By the afternoon of September 2nd, it was located in the waters east of the northern part of the East Sea, with sustained winds of force 8 and gusts of force 10. This typhoon was initially projected to head towards Taiwan (China) but is now expected to weaken and change its course. Capital city Hanoi will experience hot and sunny weather during the day, with temperatures ranging from 35-37 degrees Celsius at their peak and 26-28 degrees Celsius at their lowest. Similar hot conditions are anticipated in the Northwest and Northeast regions. The area from Thanh Hoa to Hue will also face intense heat during the day, with some locations experiencing strong sunshine. In the southern regions, rain and thunderstorms are possible. The South Central Coast will be sunny with some areas experiencing heat. The Central Highlands are forecast to have rain and thunderstorms, with heavy rain possible in the late afternoon. Southern Vietnam will also see rain, with heavy downpours expected in some areas in the afternoon. Ho Chi Minh City is also forecast to have rain and thunderstorms, with heavy rain possible in the afternoon. This week, rainfall is expected to decrease nationwide.
