Quang Ninh Leads Nation in Collecting Martyrs' Remains, Honoring Heroes and National Memory

Quang Ninh province in northern Vietnam has become one of the first localities nationwide to complete the collection and DNA sampling of martyrs' remains. This initiative underscores the nation's emphasis on collective memory and honoring sacrifices. Quang Ninh province currently manages 22 martyrs' cemeteries, containing 3,802 graves. Among these, 803 graves across 18 cemeteries required identification. As of July 14, the province successfully completed the excavation and sampling for all 803 identified graves, achieving 100% of its plan. A total of 713 bone samples were collected, reaching 88.79% of the target. The collected bone samples have been handed over to the Military Institute of Forensic Medicine. This effort pays tribute to soldiers who sacrificed their lives in past conflicts, including the Vietnam War, demonstrating the nation's firm resolve to remember their sacrifices. Under its one-party system, Vietnam places a high value on national unity and social cohesion, making the preservation of historical memory a crucial element of national identity. Quang Ninh's achievement could serve as a national model, encouraging similar initiatives in other regions. It reflects Vietnam's commitment to remembering its past sacrifices while pursuing economic growth, thereby strengthening its national identity.
