Cambodia Boosts Tourism Digitalization with ACLEDA E-payment Deal
Cambodia's Ministry of Tourism has signed an MoU with ACLEDA Bank to introduce electronic payments for tourism-related public service fees. This initiative aims to enhance convenience, transparency, and efficiency, supporting the government's digitalization agenda.
PHNOM PENH, Aug 5, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia has stepped up efforts to digitize its tourism sector after the Ministry of Tourism signed a memorandum of understanding with ACLEDA Bank to introduce electronic payment services for public service fees, officials said Wednesday. The agreement, inked on August 4, is part of the Royal Government’s Digital Government Policy and aims to modernize public services while deepening public‑private cooperation to support sustainable growth in the tourism industry. Tourism Minister Huot Hak presided over the signing, with Secretary of State Song Tonghap representing the ministry and ACLEDA Bank President and Group Managing Director Dr. In Channy signing on behalf of the lender. Under the deal, businesses and the public will be able to pay licensing fees and other charges via ACLEDA’s digital platforms, including ACLEDA Mobile, Internet Banking, KHQR, X‑Pay, MPGS and branches nationwide. Officials said the initiative will boost convenience, transparency and efficiency, cut cash transactions and reinforce the government’s digital agenda. Hak hailed the MoU as “an important new beginning” in expanding cooperation with ACLEDA, saying technology and private‑sector expertise would help build a more resilient and competitive tourism industry. He also praised the bank’s sponsorship of major events such as the River Festival and Sea Festival, urging continued support for upcoming international gatherings including the 20th Francophonie Summit and Francophonie Village. The agreement follows talks launched in March 2025 and reflects broader efforts to advance Cambodia’s digital economy and modernize tourism services.
