Foodstuffs provided to flood victims

Ayeyarwady Region Chief Minister U Aye Kyaw, along with responsible officials, provided rice, rations, and basic foodstuffs to flood victims in Letmaenar Township, Ayeyarwady Region, which is experiencing flooding due to the Ngwan Dam breach, on the morning of August 3rd, and coordinated and fulfilled their needs, according to a statement released by the Ayeyarwady Region Government. First, the Region Chief Minister and his delegation arrived at the Dhamma Hall of the monastery in Dawngyi Village, Letmaenar Township, and provided rice, rations, and basic foodstuffs for the flood victims. Following that, the Region Chief Minister stated that all responsible officials are making every effort to reduce the speed of the water flow and block it, as the Ngwan Dam at Mile 25/3 of Tamai has experienced a breach from the riverbed's sand layer, causing water to flow through and leading to a reduction in the dam's height and water overflow. He also said that the public needs to live with special attention to their health and must face the difficulties they are experiencing with resilience and work together with collective strength. Subsequently, the People's Hluttaw representative and the National Hluttaw representative delivered words of encouragement, and the Head of the Region's Public Health and Treatment Department gave a speech to raise health awareness. After that, the Region Chief Minister, along with responsible officials, provided rice, oil, coffee mix, drinking water, medicine, and foodstuffs to the flood victims, it was learned. Currently, in many parts of Letmaenar Township, which is experiencing flooding, the water had not yet receded as of the evening of August 3rd.
