Prabowo Defends TNI, Polri Involvement in Food Security Programs
President Prabowo Subianto defended the involvement of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and National Police (Polri) in national food security programs against external criticism, emphasizing it as a necessary cooperation to overcome public difficulties unique to Indonesia.
President Prabowo Subianto has urged that the involvement of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and National Police (Polri) in national food security programs should not be debated. He explained that the TNI's presence in agricultural fields and the Polri's participation in corn planting are aimed at assisting the public in overcoming difficulties. Speaking at the TNI's harvest festival at Lanud Abdulrachman Saleh Airbase in Malang Regency, East Java, President Prabowo stated, "We must overcome the people's difficulties. There is no need to dwell too much on procedures, or why soldiers are involved in farming, or why police officers are planting corn." The President emphasized that the TNI and Polri belong to the people and must contribute to overcoming the challenges faced by the public. "This is Indonesia. The TNI, Polri belong to the people. We must overcome the people's difficulties. The TNI, Polri must overcome the people's difficulties. In other countries, that is your business," he explained. Prabowo asserted that external parties should not interfere in Indonesia's affairs, suggesting that outsiders would not show sympathy if the nation faced hardship. "Please do not interfere too much in our affairs, alright? You wouldn't pity us either, would you?" the President posed. Furthermore, the President expressed pride and emotion towards the TNI and Polri for their contributions to maintaining food security. He noted that the TNI has built thousands of bridges, while the Polri has developed thousands of water points to overcome public difficulties. Previously, President Prabowo had also stated that it is common in Indonesia for the police to manage the agricultural sector and for soldiers to cultivate soybeans and sugarcane in the fields. The President is convinced that these efforts will drive Indonesia's development into a better and great nation. Source: Liputan6
