Prabowo to Hold Cabinet Meeting on Free Education Up to University Level

President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia has announced his intention to hold a cabinet meeting to discuss the realization of free education, extending from public schools to state universities. This was revealed during his speech at the 28th anniversary event of the PAN party held at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC). "I will hold a Ratas or a meeting to discuss free education costs," Prabowo stated, explicitly mentioning that education at all levels, including elementary schools (SD), junior high schools (SMP), senior high schools (SMA), and state universities (Universitas Negeri), will be free of charge. When questioned about funding, he suggested that the budget would be secured by "recovering embezzled and stolen state funds." During the same address, Prabowo also signaled his intent to demand firm action from the National Police (Kapolri) against perpetrators of forest and land fires (Karhutla). The President revealed he had received a report indicating the involvement of 95 corporations in these fires, expressing regret that human actions were exacerbating the situation. Prabowo instructed the police to gather evidence and report back to him, promising decisive action if the evidence is strong. President Prabowo vowed to remain faithful to the principle enshrined in Article 33 of the Constitution, which states that land and water are the property of the state.
