Vietnam Approves National Digital Transformation Strategy 2026-2030

Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung has signed a decision approving the National Digital Transformation Strategy for 2026–2030, with a vision to 2045. The strategy sets out ambitious targets to build a prosperous, secure and human-centred digital nation while accelerating economic growth through data and AI. In recent years, the application of science and technology has been playing an increasingly important role in agricultural production, helping improve productivity, product quality and sustainability. Rooftop solar power is also gaining popularity, helping households and businesses cut electricity costs, ease pressure on the power grid and support green development. Dien Bien province, for example, is urged to make services its principal growth driver, build modern border-gate economic zones, and establish itself as a cross-border trade and logistics hub for Vietnam’s northwest and a gateway to neighbouring countries. Meanwhile, prolonged heavy rains have triggered severe landslides across many mountainous communes in Lao Cai province, severing key transport routes, damaging hundreds of homes, and causing severe hardship for local residents. Local authorities are urgently mobilizing personnel and equipment to clear debris, assist residents with relocation, and help them quickly stabilize their lives. In diplomatic spheres, the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum convened, formally adopting the Manila Plan of Action for 2026–2036, which will serve as the guiding framework for the forum's activities over the coming decade. A photo exhibition themed “The Lens of Diplomacy: 50 Years of Thailand-Vietnam Relations” was also opened in Hanoi, marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Vietnam. Nationwide campaigns are underway to collect DNA samples from relatives of fallen soldiers to identify hundreds of thousands of unidentified fallen soldiers, honouring their sacrifices for the Fatherland.
