Phnom Penh District Steps Up Security with Large-Scale Patrols

In Cambodia's capital, Phnom Penh, a large-scale joint patrol is being planned to strengthen security and public order within the Russey Keo district. District Governor Chin Bunthoeun, who also heads the district's administrative unity command, is set to lead the operation. The patrol is scheduled to take place on the morning of Tuesday, August 4, 2026, covering various complex geographical areas within the district. During preparations for the patrol, Governor Chin Bunthoeun provided guidance and reminders to the armed forces and all relevant forces of the Russey Keo district administration. He urged them to continuously enhance their sense of responsibility in fulfilling their duties to protect the security, order, and safety of the citizens throughout the district. He stressed the importance of maintaining a constant presence and being ready for timely intervention in any situation that could lead to insecurity. The Governor emphasized that law enforcement forces must uphold professionalism and ethics, and perform their roles strictly according to the law. He stated that there should be no leniency or exceptions for individuals who commit offenses. All illegal activities must be dealt with decisively and stringently to ensure effective and equal application of the law for everyone. He added that the purpose of this large-scale patrol is to prevent, deter, and suppress all illegal activities, especially in areas with high risks and complex geographies.
