Habagat, Tropical Depression Trough to Bring Rains to Luzon, Visayas

The southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, and the trough of a tropical depression outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) are expected to bring rains over Luzon and parts of the Visayas on Wednesday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said. Occasional rains will persist over Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro. Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are also anticipated in Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, Aklan, and Antique due to the habagat. Furthermore, the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Aurora may experience cloudy skies with scattered rains because of the tropical depression's trough. Weather specialist Chenel Dominguez noted that this system, internationally named Krovan, has cloudiness extending over Northern Luzon, contributing to the rainfall in the area. Meanwhile, Mindanao and the rest of the Visayas are likely to experience hot and humid weather. Pagasa is not monitoring any low-pressure area (LPA) within PAR as of Wednesday, but the bureau has not ruled out the possibility of an LPA forming.
