Bertha is the second storm of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season, with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph (approximately 64 km/h). It could intensify further. A hurricane watch has been issued for the coastlines from the western Florida Panhandle to the border of Jefferson and Plaquemines Parishes in Louisiana, with conditions potentially developing within 24 to 48 hours. Additional watches may be issued for the western coasts of Louisiana and Texas within the next one to two days. Despite being classified as a tropical storm, Bertha's structure is not yet fully organized. Thunderstorms are primarily confined to its southern semicircle, and dry air along with its large size are hindering its development into a well-defined tropical cyclone.
