Vietnam Boosts Economic Diplomacy with US, Focusing on Green Energy and Tech Transfer

Vietnam is accelerating its green transition through renewable energy development, efficient energy use, greener production and supply chains, green transport, sustainable agriculture, and a circular economy. As part of this, Vietnam is intensifying its economic diplomacy with the United States, aiming to deepen bilateral cooperation. Hanoi specifically hopes for contributions not only in investment but also in advanced technology, management expertise, human resource training, and support for enhancing implementation capacity. Recently, the US Secretary of State affirmed the flourishing partnership with Vietnam, and the US Ambassador highlighted a roadmap for concrete outcomes in the Vietnam–US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. This demonstrates Vietnam's commitment to sustainable economic growth while strengthening international ties. Under the one-party system led by the Communist Party of Vietnam, the government prioritizes economic growth and actively seeks foreign investment and technology. The shift towards renewable energy, in particular, is a crucial strategy for securing international support amidst climate change concerns. Strengthening ties with the US also holds strategic significance for Vietnam in balancing its geopolitical relationships, particularly with China.
