Vietnam Military Medical Academy Provides Medical Aid and Housing in Northern Province

The Vietnam Military Medical Academy, in coordination with local authorities, organized a program to provide medical aid and gifts to policy beneficiaries and disadvantaged families in Nam Duong commune, Bac Ninh province, on July 21. This event commemorates the 79th anniversary of Vietnamese War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27) and embodies the nation's principle of 'drinking water, remembering the source' and 'repaying gratitude.' Over 40 doctors, pharmacists, and technicians from the academy offered free health check-ups, consultations, and medicine to approximately 350 residents, including policy beneficiaries and those facing hardship. For individuals requiring specialized treatment, doctors provided guidance for follow-up care at appropriate medical facilities, ensuring their rights are protected. During the program, 30 gift packages were distributed to 20 families recognized for their contributions to the nation and 10 families experiencing difficult circumstances. Furthermore, two houses, designated as 'House of Solidarity' and 'House of Gratitude,' were inaugurated and handed over to the Ngo Van Tai family and the Than Van Mien family, respectively. The latter is a former combatant affected by chemical toxins, and the house aims to alleviate their difficulties and improve their quality of life, aligning with the Party and State's policies to care for policy beneficiaries. Major General, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Nam, Deputy Political Commissar of the Military Medical Academy, emphasized that alongside its core political missions, the academy views 'repaying gratitude' activities as essential for society to honor those who have served. These efforts also serve to educate the academy's staff and students on compassion and the noble values of fallen heroes, war invalids, and contributors to the nation's independence, unification, and socialist construction. Annually, the academy dispatches teams to various provinces, including Dien Bien, Tuyen Quang, and Bac Ninh, to provide medical services to thousands of beneficiaries. Since the beginning of 2026, the academy has supported the construction of three 'Houses of Gratitude,' five 'Houses of Solidarity,' and one '100 Dong House.' They have also conducted eight medical missions, serving over 2,900 individuals and distributing 517 gift packages. Major General Nam stated that while these contributions may seem small compared to the sacrifices made, they are practical expressions of the 'drinking water, remembering the source' spirit and gratitude from the Party, State, military, and the Military Medical Academy towards national heroes and contributors. These actions aim to strengthen public trust in the Party, State, and military, and to foster patriotism and revolutionary traditions among the youth, preparing them to contribute to the nation's development in this era of renewal.
