AI Summary

Vietnamese fruits are gaining international recognition for their diversity, quality, and nutritional value at Asia Fruit Logistica in Hong Kong. Exports are on an upward trend, with businesses aiming for further market expansion.

Vietnamese fruits are carving out a stronger niche in global markets, showcasing their diverse varieties, high quality, and nutritional value, which have earned consumer confidence at this year's Asia Fruit Logistica held in Hong Kong. The event, which took place at AsiaWorld-Expo from September 2–4, featured 730 exhibitors from 40 countries and territories. The Vietnamese delegation, organized by the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, comprised 24 booths representing 22 businesses nationwide. Asia Fruit Logistica serves as a vital platform connecting businesses, distributors, and consumers, with product and service offerings spanning fruit, machinery, logistics, and smart agricultural solutions. Dang Phuc Nguyen, the association's secretary general, noted the steady expansion of the Vietnamese delegation, growing from 10 businesses in 2017 to 22 this year. At this year's event, Vietnamese firms signed contracts worth approximately US$5 million directly with international partners, with revenue expected to surpass previous years, driven by key products like durian, passion fruit, and dragon fruit. Nguyen acknowledged that while the scale and export value of Vietnam's participation remain modest compared to the country's vast fruit and vegetable potential, the event offers broader benefits. It helps Vietnamese businesses secure partners, expand markets, and promote the quality and reputation of the nation's fruit industry. The fair also highlights technologies for harvesting, processing, preservation, and transportation, particularly smart, organic, and environmentally friendly farming solutions, which Vietnamese businesses can explore for import or technology transfer to enhance their agricultural products' value. Le Minh Tuan, director of Pulimex Import-Export, stated that his company is displaying Vietnamese specialties such as dragon fruit, coconut, banana, longan, rambutan, and mango, primarily to find partners and broaden export markets. He considers the Hong Kong fair an important platform for Vietnamese fruit exporters to reach markets not only in Asia but also in the U.S., Europe, Australia, the Middle East, and Africa, especially with the strengthened support from Vietnamese authorities in addressing legal and payment-related challenges. Le Huu Dung, director of Vinafood International, which exports Vietnamese fruits to India and the Middle East, expressed optimism that the event will facilitate expansion into other potential markets, leveraging the diversity and growing reputation of Vietnamese fruits. Alessandro Cordano from Portugal was impressed by the variety, appearance, taste, and health benefits of Vietnamese fruits. Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports have seen robust growth in recent years, rising from approximately $7 billion in 2024 to $8.6 billion in 2025, with projections to exceed $10 billion this year.
