A horrific incident has occurred in Dong Nai province, southern Vietnam, where a 21-year-old man allegedly attacked four people in a neighboring house, killing three and critically injuring one, after failing to break into his ex-girlfriend's home. The suspect, Nguyen Duc Anh, 21, has been arrested and is undergoing interrogation. According to local media, Anh's motive was reportedly linked to his breakup with his 17-year-old girlfriend. In the early hours of the incident, after consuming alcohol, he went to his ex-girlfriend's house with a knife. However, the house was locked, so he attempted to enter through a skylight on the roof of the adjacent property, belonging to Mr. Dinh Van Rung. Mr. Rung noticed the disturbance and discovered Anh on the roof with a knife. He informed Anh that his daughter had ended their relationship and urged him to leave. However, Anh persisted in trying to break in, declaring he would kill the entire family. Mr. Rung then contacted the police and secured his home. Failing to enter his ex-girlfriend's house, Anh climbed over the roof of Mr. Nguyen Van Quang's house next door and entered through a second-floor door. When Mr. Quang investigated a noise, he encountered Anh coming down the stairs. According to the suspect's statement, upon seeing the homeowner, he attacked Mr. Quang with the knife. Mr. Quang attempted to defend himself with a kitchen knife but was severely wounded. He dropped the knife and ran outside, but Anh pursued and continued to attack him until he collapsed. Anh then returned to the house, locked the gate, and entered the bedroom, attacking Mrs. Ho Thi Mai, 36, Mr. Quang's wife, along with their 11-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter. Mrs. Mai died at the scene. The two children were rushed to the hospital but did not survive. Mr. Quang sustained multiple injuries and is receiving treatment. Anh claims he did not know the Quang family and had no personal conflict with them. Upon receiving Mr. Rung's report, the local police rushed to the scene. They apprehended Anh as he opened the gate. The provincial police, in coordination with the district police, forensic department, and prosecutors' offices, are conducting on-site investigations, autopsies, and interviews with witnesses and related parties to fully investigate the case. This incident highlights the challenges of emotional regulation among youth in Vietnamese society and the profound impact personal issues can have on the wider community. In Vietnam, where social stability is a high priority under its one-party system, the occurrence of such violent crimes underscores ongoing public security concerns. Source: VnExpress
