Cambodia Holds National Sports Games Torch Relay in Svay Rieng

On the morning of September 25, 2026, the torch relay for the 5th National Sports Games and the 3rd National Para Games took place in Svay Rieng province, Cambodia. The event was presided over by H.E. Peng Posa, Governor of Svay Rieng Province, H.E. Bun Savann, Member of the Provincial Council, representing H.E. Men Vibol, President of the Provincial Council, H.E. Ke Bun Khien, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, H.E. Sar Sithy, Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, and Neak Oknha Sam Ang Vattanac, CEO of Vattanac Brewery. The ceremony was held at the Independence Monument roundabout in Svay Rieng province. The event was attended by Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen, members of the Provincial Council, Deputy Governors, Deputy Director General of the Provincial Hall, representatives from the three armed forces, students from Svay Rieng University, athletes, school principals, teachers, Red Cross youth, Boy Scout youth, Youth Union members, cycling associations, civil servants, and approximately 2,000 citizens. In his address, the Provincial Governor expressed his profound gratitude to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport and the National Sports Games Organizing Committee for entrusting Svay Rieng province with the hosting of this prestigious event once again. He noted that Svay Rieng is the first province among those co-hosting in 2026 to organize the torch relay and that it is historically the second time the province has had the honor of hosting such a significant and meaningful national sports program, filled with excitement and pride. The torch relay covered a distance of approximately 3.55 kilometers. The relay began with H.E. the Governor carrying the torch, which was then passed on to the Deputy Governors and representatives from various ministries and departments. The relay continued in stages until it reached the final destination, with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport being the last to receive the torch. The ceremony proceeded smoothly, characterized by solidarity, fraternity, friendship, and utmost closeness.
