Kandal Province Governor Expresses Grave Concern Over Rising Dengue Fever Cases, Urges Joint Action

Kandal Province Governor Kuoch Chamroeun has expressed strong concern over the increase in dengue fever cases, calling for the participation of all relevant parties, including local authorities, health officials, and the general public. The statement was made during the official inauguration ceremony of a concrete bridge and drainage system in Komsan Phnum village, Kampong Phnum commune, Leuk Daek district, on August 5, 2026. The event was presided over by Governor Kuoch Chamroeun, along with Nou Sakorn, Chairman of the Kandal Provincial Council, and Chau Sambath, Deputy Head of the Royal Government Working Group for Local Affairs in Leuk Daek District. The ceremony was attended by provincial deputy governors, heads of relevant departments and units, district authorities, and a large number of citizens and students. Regarding the dengue fever issue, the Governor instructed the Provincial Department of Health and local authorities to conduct targeted spraying of insecticides to kill mosquitoes in affected areas. He also urged citizens to eliminate stagnant water, which serves as a breeding ground for mosquitoes, to administer larvicides in containers, and to implement regular preventive measures to cut off the spread of dengue fever. In Cambodia, public health remains a critical focus, with vector-borne diseases like dengue fever posing a recurring challenge, particularly during the rainy season. The government consistently emphasizes the importance of community engagement and individual responsibility in disease prevention. The Governor's directive underscores the need for a concerted effort to combat the rising incidence of dengue fever in the province.
