Phnom Penh: Former Police Officer and Car Dealership Owner Dies by Suicide

In Cambodia's capital, Phnom Penh, a former police officer and owner of the car dealership 'NARA NaraKhim' has died by suicide using a handgun at his residence. The tragic incident occurred on the night of September 23, 2026, at the man's home in Khum Chong Khsach, Sangkat Tuol Sangke 1, Ruesey Keo District. Following the incident, local police and specialists from the Technical and Scientific Office of the Phnom Penh Municipal Police Headquarters were dispatched to the scene to conduct an examination of the body. The remains were subsequently handed over to the family for traditional funeral rites. The former police officer was reportedly a Major serving at the Tuol Sangke 1 police station. The cause of the suicide has not yet been disclosed, and police are continuing their investigation. While Cambodia has seen economic development in recent years, issues related to individual mental health and financial difficulties have also emerged as social concerns.
