Nguyen Tien Hai Appointed Acting Minister of Home Affairs

Nguyen Tien Hai, 61, a member of the Communist Party Central Committee and Party Secretary of An Giang province, has been appointed Acting Minister of Home Affairs by the Prime Minister. The move comes as the previous minister, Do Thanh Binh, is being reassigned to other duties. Hai began his career in youth union activities in the former Minh Hai province and held various administrative positions in Ca Mau province. He served as Party Secretary of Ca Mau province from July 2020, and later as Party Secretary of Kien Giang province in early 2025. Following the merger of Kien Giang and An Giang provinces in July 2025, he continued to serve as Party Secretary of An Giang. He is a member of the 14th Party Central Committee and a deputy to the 16th National Assembly. The Ministry of Home Affairs is a government body responsible for state administrative functions, including the organization of administrative apparatus, local government, civil servants, labor, wages, social insurance, employment, beneficiaries, youth, gender equality, commendations, document management, and archives. Hai will be assisted by six deputy ministers: Vu Chien Thang, Truong Hai Long, Cao Huy, Nguyen Van Hoi, Nguyen Manh Khuong, and Nguyen Thi Ha. His predecessor, Binh, 59, had served as Minister of Home Affairs since October 2025.
