The National Steering Committee for the Search, Recovery and Identification of Martyrs' Remains announced that its "500 Days and Nights" campaign has successfully recovered 1,384 sets of remains of fallen soldiers. This initiative is underscored by the nation's deep humanitarian values and respect for those who sacrificed for the Fatherland, with top leadership actively participating in tribute ceremonies. On July 17, Party General Secretary and State President To Lam visited Ho Chi Minh City to pay tribute to late Party General Secretary Tran Phu and the nation's heroic martyrs. He also inspected the ongoing search and recovery operations. Earlier, on July 15, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung offered incense and laid flowers at the Vi Xuyen National Martyrs' Cemetery in Tuyen Quang province, ahead of the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day. Dak Lak province in the Central Highlands has 34 martyrs' cemeteries with 15,222 graves, of which 4,124 remain unidentified. Since early June, the province has been exhuming unidentified martyrs' graves to collect biological samples for DNA testing. The campaign addresses the reality that over 70 years after the war ended, hundreds of thousands of fallen soldiers remain unidentified, leaving their families in anguish for decades. The Ministry of Public Security aims to provide respect to these sacrifices and their families by collecting DNA samples for identification. Under its one-party system, Vietnam prioritizes national unity and social stability. Efforts to honor past war sacrifices contribute to national cohesion and foster patriotism. While pursuing economic growth, addressing historical issues strengthens the foundation for Vietnam's stability and development. During this period, Vietnam's Foreign Minister also attended ASEAN-related meetings, continuing international dialogue. Additionally, a senior official from Japan's Liberal Democratic Party visited Vietnam, signaling efforts to strengthen bilateral relations.
