Ca Mau Province Accelerates Social Housing Projects to Address Worker Shortage

Ca Mau Province is making concerted efforts to accelerate the construction of social housing projects in the current and upcoming periods, aiming to resolve the sustainable housing issue for its residents. According to the latest survey results from the provincial authorities on September 14, nearly 2,000 officials, civil servants, and public employees in Ca Mau Province urgently need to buy or rent social housing. Alongside this, workers and freelance laborers in industrial parks, clusters, and urban areas are facing significant housing pressure due to rising living costs and commercial housing prices exceeding their financial capabilities. Businesses report that approximately 2,516 laborers require social housing, rental housing, and worker accommodations. The aspiration for stable housing to establish livelihoods is a legitimate desire, directly impacting work psychology and the quality of human resources essential for local socio-economic development. Faced with this reality, the government and relevant agencies in Ca Mau have been mobilizing resources to overcome "bottlenecks" and promote housing infrastructure development. Currently, three social housing projects are underway in the province, with a total scale of over 1,200 units. Specifically, the social housing project in An Xuyen Ward, invested by Ca Mau Housing Development and Construction Joint Stock Company, has completed approximately 120 out of 218 units and is processing the sale of 93 units. Another project in Khom 5, An Xuyen Ward, invested by a joint venture between A Dong Infrastructure Development and Construction Joint Stock Company and CIC Investment Joint Stock Company, has completed 300 out of 823 units (50% of the volume), with 250 units eligible for future sale notification. Additionally, the Social Housing Project 2 within the new urban area of An Xuyen Ward, comprising 210 apartments and invested by T&T LAND Ca Mau Co., Ltd., is currently undergoing foundation construction. The province is maximizing its resources and is determined to address land clearance and administrative procedure difficulties, striving to complete the plan of 600 social housing units in 2026. For the period 2026-2030, Ca Mau Province targets the development of approximately 3,669 social housing units for rent and worker housing, aligned with the adjusted Provincial Housing Development Program Resolution. The locality emphasizes urban planning by allocating 20% of land in urban and commercial housing projects for social housing and is considering revoking slow-moving projects to transfer them to capable investors. Discussing future orientations, Mr. Du Minh Hung, Director of the Ca Mau Department of Construction, stated that the province will focus on minimizing administrative procedure resolution times, accelerating land clearance, enhancing project progress monitoring, and effectively implementing preferential policies. Through these efforts, Ca Mau expects to strongly attract reputable businesses, ensure supply-demand balance, and gradually turn the dream of stable housing for low-income earners into reality.
