World's No. 2 Pickleball Player Explores Ha Giang by Motorbike

American professional pickleball player Anna Bright, born in 1999, visited Vietnam earlier this month, exploring Hanoi's Old Quarter where she sampled the local specialty, bun cha (grilled pork with vermicelli), and enjoyed Vietnamese coffee. Bright then traveled to the northern province of Ha Giang by motorbike, visiting iconic sights such as Ma Pi Leng Pass and the Nho Que River. Documenting her journey in a vlog, she stated, "The scenery along the way was unbelievably beautiful, and my driver took such good care of me—treating me like a princess." During her trip, Bright admired the dramatic landscapes of the Dong Van Karst Plateau and the turquoise Nho Que River winding between rugged cliffs. She also visited "Deadly Rock," a renowned viewpoint known for its sheer cliffs, winding mountain roads, and expansive mountain vistas. Bright and her companions also made a stop at Tham Ma Slope, a famous mountain pass on National Highway 4C that connects tourist attractions across the Dong Van Karst Plateau. Also known as the "Nine-Bend Slope," this approximately 5-kilometer stretch features nine sharp turns and is popular for its mountainous scenery and photo opportunities. Prior to switching to pickleball in 2022, Bright played tennis for the University of California, Berkeley. She quickly gained recognition in pickleball for her aggressive style and powerful backhand shots. Currently competing on the PPA Tour, she is ranked the No. 2 women's singles player in the world, behind Anna Leigh Waters.
