Cambodia Urges Asiana Airlines for Direct Seoul-Siem Reap Flights

Cambodia's Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, Khoun Phonrothanak, along with his colleagues, held a working meeting with Mr. Song Bo Young, Managing Director of Asiana Airlines, on July 2, 2026, at the company's headquarters in Seoul. The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen cooperation and promote the opening of direct flights from Seoul to Siem Reap. During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on the general situation of air travel between Cambodia and Korea using Asiana Airlines. They also discussed further strengthening cooperation between the two institutions to facilitate travel for Cambodian citizens who trust and use Asiana Airlines' services, and to increase the number of Korean tourists visiting Cambodia. Ambassador Khoun Phonrothanak highlighted that many Korean and foreign tourists wish to visit Cambodia's Angkor Wat temples. He expressed hope that the airline would consider and examine the feasibility of opening direct flights from Seoul to Siem Reap, thereby easing travel for tourists who intend to visit this cultural tourism province directly. In response, Mr. Song informed the Ambassador that the company will consider and examine the possibility of organizing direct flights to Siem Reap in the future.
