The Tatmadaw has been conducting counter-terrorism operations in townships, villages, and regions temporarily controlled by terrorist insurgents, in order to ensure the peaceful livelihood of the public and to promote socio-economic development. As a result, Khampat Town, which had been under the temporary control of insurgents, was fully recaptured on June 20, 2026. To provide necessary assistance and support to the local population, a total of 37 personnel comprising 35 departmental staff and 2 dependents along with essential relief supplies, departed from Kale Township to Khampat Town by motor vehicles on the afternoon of August 1, marking the first arrival. For the second phase, to enable the government's administrative machinery to resume operations, facilitate the reopening of departmental offices with additional staffing, reopen schools and hospitals, and expand public welfare activities, an additional 35 departmental staff departed from Tamu Township to Khampat Town at 7:00 AM on August 5. Prior to their departure, U Win Ko Ko, Chairman of Tamu District Administrative Body, met with the 35 staff members assigned to serve in Khampat Town and delivered words of encouragement. Under the arrangement of the Tamu District Administrative Body, he provided each staff member with a one-month supply of four types of rations, valued at 54,000 kyats per person, including rice, cooking oil, beans, dried fish, eggs, dried noodles, as well as a 500W solar battery lamp set for emergency use, provided by the Sagaing Region Government. The 35 staff members arrived in Khampat Town at about 10:15 AM, where they were warmly welcomed by the commander of local military station, responsible officials, and local residents.
