Cambodian Senate Committee Discusses Development and Job Creation with Takeo Provincial Administration

The Senate Committee on Human Rights, Petitions, Investigation, and Inspection (First Committee) of Cambodia held a significant discussion with the Takeo Provincial Administration regarding the province's development and job creation efforts. The meeting was presided over by Mr. Ngey Chanpol, Chairman of the First Committee, and attended by Mr. Yos Nasy, Chairman of the Takeo Provincial Council, Mr. Vey Somnang, Governor of Takeo Province, and other relevant officials. Governor Vey Somnang presented the progress made in various sectors within Takeo province. He highlighted the notable increase in new factories and enterprises, which has significantly boosted the employment rate in the province. Currently, Takeo province hosts over 1,000 factories and enterprises, creating employment opportunities for nearly 170,000 workers. These job creations contribute to annual wage payments totaling approximately over $500 million, significantly benefiting the local economy. Governor Vey Somnang emphasized that the growth of factories and enterprises not only generates employment and income for the local population but also plays a crucial role in reducing unemployment rates and curbing the migration of citizens to the capital Phnom Penh or other provinces in search of work. Meanwhile, Chairman Ngey Chanpol stated that the purpose of the visit was to engage directly with local authorities to understand the challenges and requests they face. He also encouraged and highly commended the Takeo provincial authorities for their continued efforts in further developing the province and improving the efficiency of public service delivery to the citizens.
