Da Nang Red Cross Organizes Congress, Aims for Professionalism and Modernization

On July 21, in Da Nang City, the Vietnam Red Cross Society of Da Nang City solemnly organized its first Congress of Representatives for the 2026-2031 term. Attending and directing the Congress were Ms. Luong Thi Hong Thuy, Head of the Central External Relations and Communications Department of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, and leaders of Da Nang City. Representatives from leaders of departments, branches, mass organizations, localities, agencies, units, partners, and outstanding Red Cross officials, members, and volunteers were also present. The Congress elected the Executive Committee of the Da Nang City Red Cross for the first term (2026-2031), comprising 50 members. At its first meeting, the Executive Committee elected a Standing Committee of 14 members. Mr. Le Tan Minh was elected Chairman of the Da Nang City Red Cross for the 2026-2031 term, and Mr. Nguyen Tien Lam was elected Vice Chairman and Head of the Inspection Committee. Speaking at the Congress, Ms. Luong Thi Hong Thuy emphasized that in the new development context of Da Nang City, humanitarian work should not only be about assisting in times of hardship but must become an important part of the city's sustainable development strategy. She stated that the Da Nang City Red Cross needs to become a professional and modern organization, effectively playing its core role as a bridge and coordinator of humanitarian activities, and better caring for the poor, the vulnerable, and those susceptible to harm within the city. She particularly stressed that humanitarian work in the new phase must move strongly towards the requirement of being proactive, faster, and more sustainable. Mr. Le Tri Thanh, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang City, acknowledged, highly appreciated, and commended the outstanding achievements that the Da Nang City Red Cross (and formerly Quang Nam province) had accomplished in the past term. He also pointed out that the limitations and shortcomings identified in the political report need to be analyzed to clearly determine their causes and solutions. Mr. Le Tri Thanh expressed confidence that with the glorious tradition of the Vietnam Red Cross, the spirit of solidarity, innovation, responsibility, and the aspiration to contribute from the team of officials, members, and volunteers, the Da Nang City Red Cross will continue to develop strongly, successfully implement the resolutions of the Congress, and affirm its role as the core force in humanitarian activities and a reliable address for connecting compassionate hearts. The Congress also elected 8 delegates (7 official, 1 alternate) to attend the 12th National Congress of the Vietnam Red Cross Society for the 2026-2031 term.
