Cambodia Cracks Down on Over 200 Criminal Offenses in July, Arrests 345 Suspects

The Ministry of Interior announced that Cambodian national police forces, from the General Commissariat to commune and district police posts, actively suppressed criminal offenses throughout July 2026. A total of 208 criminal cases were cracked down upon, resulting in the arrest of 345 suspects. Case files have been built and sent to the court for legal proceedings, according to the Ministry of Interior's report. The report further detailed that the criminal offenses suppressed during this period included violence, fraud, theft, robbery, rape, murder, sexual abuse, illegal weapon possession, involuntary manslaughter, and illegal detention. Among these, theft cases were the most prevalent, with 86 incidents, followed by violence with 54 cases. These offenses occurred in the capital, Phnom Penh, and 22 other provinces, including Kandal, Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, Kratie, Svay Rieng, Preah Vihear, Tboung Khmum, Kampot, Mondulkiri, Prey Veng, Takeo, Preah Sihanouk, Stung Treng, Siem Reap, Pursat, Kampong Cham, Kampong Chhnang, Kampong Thom, Oddar Meanchey, Kampong Speu, Pailin, and Ratanakiri. It is noteworthy that the crackdown on criminal offenses is one of the six priority directions announced by His Excellency Sar Sokha, Deputy Prime Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, to be strictly intensified from the beginning of the 7th legislature of the government.
