The Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI/NOC Indonesia) has officially confirmed the Indonesian contingent for the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, comprising 430 athletes from 35 sports. This number represents a reduction of two athletes from the initial list. "By saying bismillah, the Indonesian contingent is officially confirmed," stated the Chairman of the Indonesian NOC, Raja Sapta Oktohari, during the inauguration ceremony of the Indonesian Contingent at Wisma Serbaguna Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta, on Wednesday. According to the Chef de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian Contingent, Todotua Pasaribu, the athlete count was finalized at 430 after the Delegation Registration Meeting (DRM), down from 432 recorded in the name-by-name stage. The contingent will be further supported by 145 officials from 35 sports. In addition to athletes and officials, Indonesia has prepared 78 support personnel, including doctors, masseurs, physiotherapists, and a headquarters team, to assist the contingent in Japan. Pasaribu noted that the CdM team, in collaboration with the Indonesian NOC and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, has undertaken various preparations, such as visiting sports branches, coordinating with team managers and officials, and providing support to athletes. Some contingents have already departed for Japan. The basketball and fencing teams were the first to be sent after adjusting their travel routes due to the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau, traveling overland to Surabaya before flying via Singapore. Pasaribu assured that the CdM team would ensure that non-technical needs, including accommodation, transportation, and support services, are managed effectively, allowing athletes to focus on their competitions. The 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games are scheduled to take place from September 19 to October 4 in Japan.
