Multi-vehicle crash on National Highway 1 causes house collapse, casualties

A serious multi-vehicle accident occurred on National Highway 1 in Thanh Hoa Province, Vietnam, around 11 a.m. on September 23, resulting in one fatality and two injured drivers. The incident began when a 7-seater Hyundai Santa Fe, traveling towards Hanoi, collided with a truck ahead on Nguyen Hue Street in Quang Trung Ward. The unexpected impact caused the truck to lose control and swerve into the opposite lane, hitting a motorcycle before crashing into a roadside house. The truck then crushed a 5-seater Toyota Vios parked in front of the house. According to Mai Dinh Lam, Chairman of the Quang Trung Ward People's Committee, the motorcyclist died at the scene, and both truck drivers sustained severe injuries. At the scene, three vehicles were heavily damaged with deformed parts. The front wall and corrugated iron roof of the house collapsed, scattering construction materials and vehicle debris on the road. Security camera footage showed the Santa Fe traveling at high speed and attempting to overtake the truck, which is believed to have initiated the chain reaction. At the time of the accident, the road surface was dry and clear. Traffic through Quang Trung Ward experienced temporary congestion. Thanh Hoa Provincial Police are currently managing traffic, examining the scene, and investigating the cause of the accident.
