Cambodia Pushes Solar Traffic Lights for Enhanced Road Safety

The Stung District Police Inspectorate in Kampong Thom Province, Cambodia, has ordered the further promotion of solar traffic light installations at key locations to ensure road safety for local residents. This directive follows instructions from Kampong Thom Provincial Police Chief Major General Heng Sophal. The initiative aims to enhance the visibility of road signs and conditions, particularly during nighttime or in areas with insufficient lighting. This is intended to increase the alertness of road users and promote better adherence to traffic laws. Furthermore, the installed solar traffic lights will feature contact information for the police authorities. This will enable citizens to swiftly provide information regarding accidents and emergencies, allowing for prompt intervention by the authorities. Stung District Police Inspector Lieutenant Colonel Chim Rina instructed the specialized departments to continuously inspect and identify high-risk locations for the installation of additional solar lights and traffic signs as needed. He also appealed to all citizens and road users to comply with traffic laws, drive cautiously, and cooperate by providing information to the authorities, thereby jointly reducing traffic accidents and enhancing public safety.
