Romualdez to attend arraignment via teleconference from BJMP facility

Former House Speaker Martin Romualdez was seen inside a room at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) facility on Wednesday morning, awaiting his arraignment for plunder charges via teleconference. The Sandiganbayan Third Division has allowed Romualdez to attend his arraignment and pre-trial proceedings via videoconference on Wednesday. According to Atty. Dennis Pulma, clerk of court for the Third Division, the tribunal granted Romualdez's urgent motion "to allow attendance for arraignment and pre-trial via videoconference." Romualdez's arraignment is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. The Leyte congressman is facing plunder charges in connection with allegations of receiving P7.2 billion in alleged kickbacks from allocations for infrastructure projects. —VAL, GMA News
