Bun Rany Hun Sen Offers Rainy Season Offerings to Buddhist Monasteries in Takeo Province
Bun Rany Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian Red Cross, offered rainy season offerings including candles, food, and cash to eight Buddhist monasteries in Ta Proeum commune, Takeo province. The ceremony also served as a commemoration for her parents and deceased relatives.
Her Excellency Bun Rany Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian Red Cross and spouse of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, along with her relatives and the spouses of other high-ranking officials, offered rainy season candles, essential food items, beverages, and cash to eight Buddhist monasteries located in Roka Knar commune, Krachhmar district, Tboung Khmum province. The ceremony took place on the morning of Monday, the 6th day of the waxing moon of the second month of the year of the Horse, the eighth year of the Buddhist Era 2570, corresponding to July 20, 2026. During the event, Her Excellency Bun Rany Hun Sen paid homage by lighting candles and incense, offering flowers, and bowing to Buddha images, in remembrance of the glorious Buddhist tradition of Cambodia. She also recited prayers and took the five precepts, honoring the Buddha, our supreme teacher, who attained supreme enlightenment and left behind profound Dharma and Vinaya for Buddhists of all generations to practice until the present day. The offering of rainy season candles, food supplies, beverages, and cash to the eight monasteries was made to dedicate merit to the souls of ancestors, including the souls of His Excellency Ly Nguon, the great Buddhist devotee, and Madam Neak Oknha Preah Maha Upasika Thammagnana Vivaddhana Bun Songly, the biological parents of Her Excellency Bun Rany Hun Sen. It also included the souls of His Excellency Neak Oknha Maha Pakdei Saburitis Pheap Adhipati Hun Neang and Madam Maha Upasika Dy Pok, the biological parents of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, as well as the souls of seven generations of blood relatives who have passed away. The prayer was for all these souls to find peace and happiness in a high and favorable realm. The eight monasteries receiving the offerings are: 1. Wat Ampor Wan 2. Wat Hluong Kandal 3.
