Cambodian Interior Minister Praises Local Officials for Dedicated Service

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sar Sokha, has highly commended the commune/sangkat councilors and local officials for their responsible service to the nation and citizens during the closing meeting of the 5th mandate of the commune/sangkat councils. Speaking at the meeting held on August 8, 2026, at the Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel, the Deputy Prime Minister stated that, on behalf of the Royal Government of Cambodia under the high leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet, the Ministry of Interior leadership expresses its highest appreciation to all commune/sangkat councilors, officials, and village chiefs who have strived to fulfill their roles with dedication and sacrifice, both physically and mentally, in serving their nation and people. Based on the results of the summation, evaluation, and discussions of the congress, the Deputy Prime Minister continued that the meeting reviewed achievements, strengths, weaknesses, challenges, and priorities for the upcoming mandate. Notably, the congress affirmed that the commune/sangkat councils, as representatives of the people and the closest administration to them, have played a crucial role in transforming the policies and political programs of the government into public services, development, and tangible outcomes in their respective local areas. Concurrently, the Deputy Prime Minister added that the achievements of the 5th mandate not only demonstrate the efforts and progress of the local administration but have also laid a significant foundation for further strengthening public services, local development, and sub-national governance to be more effective, transparent, and accountable, responding to the actual needs of the people.
