Phnom Penh Offers 5 Days of Free Public Bus Service for Pchum Ben Festival

Phnom Penh authorities have announced the implementation of a free public bus service for five days during the annual traditional Pchum Ben festival. This initiative will run from October 9 to October 13, 2026, aiming to alleviate the financial burden on citizens and support their travel for family reunions during the national holiday. A total of 600 public buses are slated for deployment by the Phnom Penh municipal administration. Of these, 100 buses will serve routes within Phnom Penh and to Techo International Airport. The remaining 500 buses will operate on six main routes connecting the capital with various provinces, facilitating citizen mobility. Furthermore, free drinking water will be provided inside the buses during the free service period, enhancing the comfort of long-distance travel. The city administration has also appealed to transportation operators to maintain existing fares and refrain from increasing prices during the festival, thereby preventing an additional financial strain on the public. Citizens are encouraged to utilize the public bus service and travel with caution to ensure safe and comfortable journeys.
