In Poipet City, Banteay Meanchey Province, northwestern Cambodia, the Border Defense Force Unit No. 891, in cooperation with the Poipet City Police and the armed forces, arrested two suspects on September 23rd on suspicion of facilitating illegal border crossings into Thailand. The operation was conducted near the O'Prim Den River border area, which is currently experiencing flooding. The arrested individuals have been identified as Chhom Soly, male, 19 years old, and Chum Dul, male, 52 years old. Authorities seized a large bundle of ropes used for transporting people across the river, along with other related equipment. Illegal border crossings from Cambodia to Thailand are a persistent issue, often driven by the search for better economic opportunities and higher wages in Thailand. This operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat criminal networks involved in human trafficking and illegal labor. The two suspects and the seized evidence have been transferred to the relevant specialized department for legal proceedings. Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify and apprehend any other individuals involved in the case.
