Hanoi Pilots Transforming Craft Villages into Community Learning Spaces

On July 22, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, in coordination with the Thanh Oai District People's Committee, inaugurated a pilot community learning center at the Chuong Village Communal House (Thanh Oai District). The center's inaugural theme is "Chuong Village's Non (Conical Hat) - From Traditional Heritage to Modern Economic Value." This initiative aims to enhance the quality of vocational education to meet the human resource demands of the new era. As Vietnam's economy grows, the need for a skilled workforce with advanced technical abilities is increasing. Utilizing traditional craft villages as learning spaces offers a novel approach to preserving and passing down local cultural heritage while cultivating skills relevant to contemporary economic needs. Chuong Village is renowned for its traditional non hat production, and this project focuses on adapting these techniques for the modern market and increasing their economic value. This serves a dual purpose: revitalizing rural economies and providing vocational training opportunities for the youth. The Communist Party of Vietnam prioritizes balancing economic growth with social development, and investment in education is a key policy. Strengthening vocational education, particularly in rural areas, is considered essential for curbing rural-to-urban migration and fostering regional economic independence.
